The Pivot

The way we view something is intrinsic to how we interact with it, and sometimes all it takes for a big change to happen is looking at a situation from a different angle. 

The Pivot is all about changing your mind, shifting your perspective, and challenging yourself to inspect your narratives. The way we view something is intrinsic to how we interact with it, and sometimes all it takes for a big change to happen is looking at a situation from a different angle. 

I love to change my mind; it’s one of my greatest pleasures to think I know all there is to know about something, and then to inspect it and uncover something new, surprising myself with a shift in my thinking. I’ll tell ya- I’ve made SO many hugely important pivots in my life. And of course, also a million small ones. One of the biggest pivots I’ve made is owning a dog. 

A few years ago I would have never ever considered having a dog. Too much responsibility, too much money, not enough freedom to travel. But my mind changed when I dated someone with a dog and realized that while a dog adds more responsibility to your life, they also add more joy. Focusing on the joy of being a dog parent was the shift in perspective, and having Bruiser now, almost five years later, is one of the greatest joys of my life. It has led to a better daily routine, better self care, sweet companionship, and endless unconditional love. Changing my focus from just considering the responsibility of dog ownership, to allowing myself to also see and consider the joy of dog ownership, was the only thing that shifted to allow for this enormous change in my life. Other places of huge change in the last few years of my life; deciding to join a gym and try out weightlifting- the perspective change there was around personal worth and value, and getting back into coffee work after telling myself I was done with it- the perspective change there was realizing I don’t need to only depend on myself while starting my own business and can ask for help and support in earning income. 

The Pivot is a two week long coaching package that includes four coaching sessions. You’ll start with a one hour coaching session in which we talk about what it is that you would like to change your mind about. We’ll identify and talk through any blocks coming up, create a plan for how to work with the currently held narratives, and name ways in which you can gently, but firmly, challenge yourself. We will use journal prompts, deep discussion, and engaging questions. Then you will have two 30-minute check in sessions as you move through testing your current perspectives and seeing where shifting is possible. The last session is an hour long session to wrap up on your work and reflect on growth and change.
